What is Sunscald?

Occasionally a customer will ask, "did something hit my tree?" due to a large scar or damaged area on the side of the trunk.  Thin-barked (most often fruit) trees planted with full sun exposure in the afternoon are highly susceptible to a disorder known as sunscald.
